Shoprite's Act For Change Food Garden Competition honours the everyday heroes building more sustainable, food-secure communities by growing their own fresh produce.  

Whether you’re cultivating veggies on a neighbourhood plot or a church space, this competition is your chance to be recognised for the vital role you play in your community – and to win support that helps secure your garden’s future growth. 

The competition is open to South African residents aged 18 and older who are involved in a community food garden. 

We’re investing R1 million to help community gardens thrive. The top six winners will receive tailored support based on their garden’s needs, from tools and infrastructure to training and resources:

• 1st prize: R225 000
• 2nd prize: R200 000
• 3rd prize: R175 000
• 4th prize: R150 000
• 5th prize: R130 000
• 6th prize: R120 000

Each prize can help you to further develop your food garden - helping you expand your impact, your harvest, and your community reach.
